AIR team inspects FM relay centre in Wokha
WOKHA — A team from All India Radio (AIR) Kohima visited the frequency modulation (FM) relay centre in Wokha for a preliminary inspection in preparation for a trial run of a local radio station (LRS) on Wednesday.
The visit follows an appeal letter from the Lotha Hoho requesting the principal director general of AIR, Akashvani Bhavan, New Delhi, for the upgrade of the existing one-kilowatt FM relay centre in Wokha’s Vankhosung to an FM programme-generating station.
The team was led by KK Rengma, DDG and cluster head of Akashvani Dibrugarh.

Earlier, the team interacted with the district administration of Wokha. During this interaction, they received a positive response regarding cooperation for their visit and support for the proposed project.
The civil society organisations (CSOs), led by Lotha Hoho members, Lotha Students’ Union, and Wokha Village Council chairman, escorted the team during the preliminary inspection and, during their interaction, informed it that the CSOs will cooperate and provide any necessary local support if and when needed.
The team will be submitting the feasibility report along with the tentative plan for launching the project through e-file.
