Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): A one-day national seminar on ‘Prospects and challenges of inclusive growth in North East Region with special focus on Agripreneurship,’ sponsored by NABARD was held at C-Edge College on October 21.

Associate professor at Sri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, Dr. S Prakash, who was the keynote speaker of the inaugural programme, started with introduction to entrepreneurhip and how to understand business opportunity.  He focused on identifying entrepreneurs in the North East and how entrepreneurial personality affects the kind of business a person takes up.

Dr. Prakash stressed on the challenges, especially the unemployment trend faced in North East India. He also highlighted on opportunities such as the ‘Digital North East: Vision 2022’ introduced by the Government of India and the scope of agri-business in the region.

The principal of C-Edge College, Dr. Chubatola Aier, in her welcome address, stated that unless the academicians, researchers and experts translate the knowledge and findings into actual action and production, the academic talks and resources consumed would be futile exercise “without the harvest.”

The resource persons for the technical sessions included Dr. Ditalak Mpanme, assistant professor of Management Studies at Nagaland University; Dr. Subit Dutta, head of Commerce department at Assam University; and Dr. S Prakash of Sri Ram College of Commerce.

The technical sessions were followed by a panel discussion on the theme ‘Inclusive growth in North East Region,’ moderated by Wapanginla Ao, dean and head of Management Studies at C-Edge College.

The panelists for the discussions were P Bulte, deputy general manager of NABARD Dimapur; Dr. S Prakash; Dr. Lowrence Kithan, scientist (Agronomy), department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at SASRD, Nagaland University; and Nilava Nandi, assistant professor of Management, Brainware University, Kolkata, it stated.
