Agriculture shows way to growing oyster mushrooms

Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): The department of Agriculture conducted a training programme about “technique of oyster mushroom cultivation” on April 11 at Yanpha village in Wokha for the women of self help groups (SHG), a press release from the department informed on Friday. The press release stated that the programme was presided by Agriculture Inspector Longshithung Lotha. The sub-divisional agriculture officer of Wokha Rosemary Ezung was the resource person. According to the press release, Ezung spoke and gave demonstration on how to cultivate oyster mushroom for nutritional support and income generation. Ezung said that mushroom contains protein, iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, folic acid, and vitamins which is beneficial for health. Also she said that mushroom is in high demand in today’s market which could be a good source of income, the release said. Altogether, 20 members from Jerry SHG, Yanpha village; Thenyata SHG, Liphanyan village; and three officials attended the training.
