Agriculture department inaugurates office in Chiephobozou

Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): Parliamentary secretary of Agriculture, YM Yollow Konyak inaugurated the office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) in Chiephobozou under Kohima district on December 8. Parliamentary secretary of Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, also graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Konyak stated that 26 SDAO offices across the State are playing important role in agriculture sector. Stating that 7686 farmers from 28 villages under Chiephobozou were the department’s personnel, he called upon all concerned individuals to work whole heartedly to uplift the sector. He also pointed out that work culture generated from the villages should be preserved for future generation.
Assuring timely distribution of seedling, the parliamentary secretary urged upon the farmers to join hands with the department and avail the opportunities in order to alleviate their livelihood and bring changes in Naga society.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neiphrezo thanked YM Yollow and the Director of Agriculture, Helie Rupreo for fulfilling the long awaited desires of people. He hoped that that their visions for the uplift of the area people would continue under their leadership.
Pointing out that ‘our’ products were organic and healthy, he called upon all the village leaders, GBs and concerned individuals to extend full cooperation to the department in implementing the programmes in order to uplift the people in agriculture sector. He also expressed hope that job opportunities would generated in order to uplift the economy of the people with the inauguration of the office.
Director of Agriculture Helie Rupreo, while giving a brief report of the department, has congratulated the District Agricultural Officer and his staff and people of Chiephobozou for the achievement. With this inauguration, he stated that Kohima district would now have three agriculture divisions including District Agriculture Office at Kohima Sadar, Tseminyu and Chiephobozou. He also informed that the department has eleven DAOs, 26 SDAOs, State Agriculture Research Centre at Mokokchung, Principal ITC at Medziphema, State Seed Farm at Merapani, Central Store at Dimapur, Agri Expo at Dimapur, seven farms and two sub-research stations.
Altogether there are 1981 departmental staff including KVK, ADMA and casual employees.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chiephobozou, Sangmai C Imlong, who also delivered the welcome address. The invocation was offered by pastor Dziesetuolie Chadi of Chiephobozou Baptist Church, while special numbers were presented by women group and Town Council Youth of Chiephobozou. The vote of thanks was delivered by District Agriculture Officer, Vizonyu Liezie.
