Agri Link Road inaugurated in Rotomi

An Agri link road from Rotomi village to Lotoshokuba was inaugurated by the Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Dr. Benjongliba Aier, in the presence of MLA and chairman of Nagaland Hotels Limited, Er. Picto Shohe on March 4. Following the inauguration, the chief guest along with the departmental officials and public leaders inspected the 18 km stretch road.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Dr. Benjongliba spoke about the diluting work culture in today’s Naga society, especially among the younger generation who still depended on maids / servants even to wash their cups and plates. He reminded the villagers not to depend only on subsidies provided by the government but to put up hard work so that the government can grant additional programs. Er. Picto, the chief host, in his short speech, requested Dr. Aier to consider some of the programmes from his department which suits the village soil type and also advised the public to be sincere in every sphere of life so that they are not left behind in any field.
A brief profile on agri & allied activities in the area was also shared and a Geographical Information System (GIS) map of the constituency was presented to the chief guest by the chief host.
During the entertainment session, women group of the village presented cotton weaving folk song. The Parliamentary Secretary was accompanied by the departmental officials including Additional Director, Mero, and Senior Agriculture Engineer, Achakpou Newmai.
Parliament Secretary also spared some time to have a bird eye view of the village which has been declared as a Model village by the State government and also a Nirmal Gram Paruskar – National Award winner on clean village. He also paid a brief tribute to the stone monolith which was laid during the 74th session of NBCC annual conference which was hosted by the village in 2011.
While showering all praises to the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, he appealed the general public to support his candidature in the ensuing Lok Sabha election. The programme was chaired by Phuhoto Shohe, Government teacher, while the welcome speech was delivered by Hukato, Village Council chairman, vote of thanks by Hukuto Chophi, Government teacher, and the invocation prayer by Ghoheyi, Pastor RBC.
