Agri and allied departments discuss upland farming system

Dimapur, April 12 (EMN): The agriculture department and its allied departments hosted consultations to discuss the issue of ‘fostering of climate resilient upland farming system’ (Focus) in the Northeast region with its project specific for Nagaland being the main focus. The meeting was conducted in the Convention Centre in Kohima on April 12. Updates from the DIPR informed about the event on Thursday. Officers overseeing the project spoke about the salient features of Focus, the updates said. It was informed that the objective of the project was to ‘foster climate-smart highland agriculture to marginal farmers in Nagaland.’ Further, the members attending the event was told, it aims to improve and increase livelihood options through ‘sustainable and equitable use of natural resources.’ The project is being funded by the International Fund for Agriculture Development, the updates added.
