Mokokchung, Dec. 12 (EMN): The annual state level Agogya Fair 2017 got underway at Assam Rifles Ground, Mokokchung, on December 12. The state-level fair was inaugurated by R Ramakrishnan, commissioner and secretary of Health & Family Welfare.
The fair, which would culminate on December 16 is being organised jointly by National AYUSH Mission and Nagaland State AYUSH Mission Society sponsored by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
The main purpose of Agogya Fair was to showcase the strength, efficacy and affordability of AYUSH system of medicine which includes Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.
The four-day fair comes with a package of free health check-up by AYUSH doctors and distribution of free medicines, live yoga demonstration, display and sale of AYUSH medicinal plants and medicine etc.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Ramakrishnan said AYUSH is not a new concept for the people because it was practiced in India since time immemorial. He also added that since the inception of AYUSH Ministry, all indigenous medicinal practices have been authenticated and documented by the ministry.
He also informed that in Nagaland many AYUSH integrated hospitals have come up in the state along with AYUSH system of medicine and doctors introduce in many PHC and CHC with the help of AYUSH ministry.
He also requested the people of Mokokchung to promote and learn AYUSH system of medicine, saying if AYUSH is development in the district it could be easily disseminated to the neighbouring districts.
CMO Mokokchung Dr S Akaba, Dr Moamongla, Dr Seyiekrietuo Johna state Nodal Officer NAM and Central Observer from Ministry of AYUSH Mohan Roy spoke at the inaugural function.
