‘Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation’ tour ends

‘ACAUT’ abbreviation for ‘Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation’ earlier is now ‘Against Corruption And Unabated Taxation’, Nagaland, on Tuesday concluded its two-day tour to put forth the body’s October 31st resolution of ‘One Government One Tax’ in Mon and Longleng districts in Eastern Nagaland.On Tuesday, the ACAUT team was received by the Longleng Chamber of Commerce (LCCI) and the district authorities outside Longleng town. The meeting was attended by Phom’s People’s Council led by Jt Secretary, Nyamnyei Semdok, Phom Students’ Conference led by Assembly Secretary, K. Chingnyu, Longleng town colony ward chairmen, GBs Association of Longleng District led by Head GB and its Chairman Ongchang, several chairmen of Longleng villages and LCCI.
Phom leaders assured their full support for the ACAUT movement and its ‘One Government One Tax’ resolution. The leaders assured to hold wider consultative meeting with the Phom community including the leaders of all the 37 Phom villages. Phom leaders also requested the ACAUT to highlight the trend of village councils and apex tribal hohos endorsing individuals wishing to join the different factions.
Such endorsements encourage factionalism and goes against the very grain of One Government One Tax, rued the leaders. Student leaders also requested the ACAUT to hold ACAUT rallies in all the districts of Nagaland on which the movement leaders have agreed to at a later date.
Earlier in a similar meeting on Monday ACAUT membersMon held a consultative public meeting in Mon with the Konyak Union led by its General Secretary, Hosea Konyak, members of Konyak Students Union led by its president, Manlip Konyak, members of MCCI led by its President Nyento Konyak, women organisations, church leaders and the general public.
In the meeting the reasons for formation of ACAUT were put forth as also the stand for One Government One Tax adopted on 31st October, 2013 . The leaders of Mon were requested ensure support to this stand from their people.
In response the tribal leaders and civil society, Mon Chamber of Commerce and Industries conveyed unflinching support for the ACAUT movement as also on the One Government One Tax. The Konyak leaders gave assuarances of discussing the issue with the people of Mon.
