CNTC welcomes NSCN-K (Ang Mai)’s peace talks with Myanmar and urges the Centre and faction to initiate a ceasefire
DIMAPUR — The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has urged the Centre and the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) faction to initiate a ceasefire, citing the group’s recent peace talks with Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC).
In a statement, the council welcomed the talks reportedly held in Nay Pyi Taw on October 22 and the signing of a record of discussions between the two sides.
It stated that the engagement should encourage New Delhi and the Ang Mai faction to pursue a similar arrangement, arguing that a formal truce could help end armed confrontation and create conditions for political reconciliation.

The CNTC reminded that decades of conflict had affected border communities, hampering infrastructure development, trade and public welfare.
It maintained that lasting peace across Naga-inhabited areas required all active groups to engage in dialogue and urged the Centre and the faction’s leadership to take steps towards a ceasefire.
The council reiterated its support for peace initiatives, saying an end to hostilities would serve the wider interests of the Naga people.
