DIMAPUR — The much-awaited Asian Football Confederation (AFC) C Diploma course, under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), has commenced at IG Stadium in Kohima.
Nagaland last hosted the AFC C Diploma course, a programme that aims at training coaches and developing their basic techniques and skills in football, in 2006.
Organised by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), William Koso, a coach educator for All India Football Federation and the Asian Football Confederation, will be the instructor for the two-week course, while Azho Sophie will be the coordinator.
In his introductory speech, Koso expressed hope that coaches would make the best use of the training programme and adapt to the professionalism required of a football coach, according to an update from the coordinator of the course.
Lauding the NFA for taking the effort to bring the course to the state, he said it will help local coaches to upgrade to a higher level and help them manage youth teams and clubs in AIFF recognised tournament that compete in the state leagues once they complete the course.
Expressing hope that the NFA will continue to organise such programmes in the state, he stressed the importance of development at grassroots level for the growth of football. He also appreciated the Department of Youth Resources and Sports for providing the facilities for the event.
As many as 21 coaches from across Nagaland, including one each from Assam and Lakshadweep will undergo an in-depth theoretical and practical training during the two-week AFC C Diploma course, which will conclude on May 16. According to the AIFF, only AIFF D Licence Coach are eligible to apply for the course.
The names of the trainees are: Avval Hamza D S, Leketoulie Liezietsu, Bokito V Shohe, Neithovilie Chalieu, Vekuto Puro, Kechi Kulimbe, Khwetelhi Thopi, Kevingulie Hiekha, Tuntan Dailiam, Imlongchaba Chang, Shurhozelie Seyie, Changsang Ongbou, Viliebeizo Liezietsu, Haotinmang Thomsong, Yamchan Meyo, Mhasimhalie M Yhome, Vizoru Peseyie, Yhunshalo Kemp, Zakietuolie Khrodi, Gangangpou Rongmei amd Joon Ali.
