Dimapur, June 3 (EMN): The Mahila Shakti Kendra Longleng along with district task force (DTF) BBBP conducted an advocacy campaign on women issues and schemes at Yongphang and Pongo village under Sakshi Block Longleng on June 1.

Speaking at the event, P Phungla Phom, WWO MSK Longleng emphasised on issues and schemes related to women and girl child. She encouraged the participants, especially the pregnant women and lactating mothers to avail the benefits meant for them, according to an update from DIPR.

Phom also enlightened the people on various schemes and women-centric provisions like One Stop Centre, Women helpline (181), Sukanya Samriddhi Account, POSCO Act, Poshan Abhiyaan and MSK (DLCW).

A single mother, who raised her seven children — five daughters and two sons — who are now well educated and well settled, was felicitated at the event. Girls from the village, who excelled in HSCL and HSSCL examinations, were felicitated, and citations were given to those who cannot bear the education cost to help them enrol in school.

A special session to discuss the problem of women and girl child was also held at the programme chaired by Titunungla Phom, district coordinator, MSK Longleng.
