Tongpang Ozukum visited landslide-hit areas in Mokokchung, reviewed NH-2 restoration efforts, and sought local support for a highway diversion.
DIMAPUR — Advisor for Water Resources, Tongpang Ozukum, visited landslide-affected areas under the Chuchuyimlang administrative area in Mokokchung district on July 25 to assess the damage and review restoration efforts.
According to a DIPR report, Ozukum inspected the massive landslide at NH-2 (Km 181.100) between Chuchuyimlang and Unger, where he interacted with district administration officials and the Public Works Department (National Highways) to assess the possibility of restoring traffic on the highway.
Officials informed him that the landslide had occurred in a subsidence zone and that the damaged stretch was beyond repair, making a diversion of the highway necessary.
During the visit, Ozukum also met members of the Chuchuyimlang and Unger Village Councils and appealed to them to provide the land required for the proposed diversion.
He urged the village authorities to extend their full support and cooperation to facilitate the early restoration of the highway.

He noted that the closure of NH-2 has severely disrupted the transportation of essential commodities and other goods to the districts of Mokokchung, Zunheboto and Tuensang.
The advisor also visited the landslide site on the road connecting Longleng and Mon districts via Salulamang from the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram junction at Chuchuyimlang town.
He assured the Salulamang Village Council of the government's commitment to restoring the road at the earliest.
Ozukum was accompanied by SDO (Civil) Changtongya, Sangpangchang Longkumer; EAC, Chuchuyimlang; officials from PWD (National Highways); party workers; the vice chairman and members of the Urban Station, Chuchuyimlang Town; and members of the Chuchuyimlang and Unger Village Councils.
