DIMAPUR — Describing the Gaon Buras (GB) as custodian of Naga customary law, advisor of Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, K Tokugha Sukhalu, has called upon the latter to dispense justice in fairness without discrimination.

Sukhalu stated this during the 28th Baghi Hoho of the Zunheboto Area GBs’ Association (ZAGBA) held at Sumi Kukami Hoho Ki in Zunheboto town on Saturday on the theme “Fostering peace and upliftment of society.”

Sukhalu, who was the special guest of the programme, advised the village GB to always be fair and just to everyone and try to do good deeds during their time. While reminding on the immense responsibilities of GBs, the advisor stated that the development and progress of a village would depend on their active participation and wisdom.

While highlighting on the diminishing number of government officers from the Sumi community, the advisor called upon the members to seriously ponder if it was the weakness on the part of parents or students. In this regard, he urged the parents to retrospect and try to do everything for the welfare of their children.

Also mentioning that the government has many development plans on the pipeline, he lamented that claim of land compensation issue has posed hindrance. He, therefore, stated that until and unless everyone comes together and do away with land compensation issues, development would be hard to achieve.

Meanwhile, he thanked the outgoing executive members for their service rendered to the association, while he also wished the best to the newly inducted members.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by GB Kughavi Yeptho, while an invocation prayer was said by Aketo Yeptho, youth leader of ZTSBC, and the welcome address was delivered by GB Hetoho S Zhimomi.

Report was presented by the association secretary, Kihoto Shohe, and concluded with a benediction said by Mughalu Swu, chairman of church leader fellowship.
