Advisor Moatoshi to focus on unemployed youth

MOKOKCHUNG — Advisor of Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, has decided to focus particularly on uneducated and unemployed youth by imparting short term training on various trades under the departments allotted to him to make them earn their livelihood.

The advisor disclosed this in the sideline of a felicitation programme accorded to him by Longpa village council, some 30 kilometers off Mokokchung town on May 26.

“We cannot make them skill labourers but semi skills so that they can earn a livelihood out of the short term training,” Longkumer said.

The advisor, who recently visited Longleng district to take stock of the ongoing ITI building construction, informed that the building is on a verge of completion. The building construction was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

“Only about 10 percent is left for completion. Hopefully, it will be completed in a month or two,” he informed.

He also added that lack of site for construction of staff quarters and water supply are the main hindrances currently confronting the project.

Meanwhile, in a felicitation programme, he thanked the Longpa people for organising the felicitation programme. He has attributed his success in the last election to the blessings of God and the support and prayer of Naga people especially the Longpa villagers.

The advisor also informed that he has a plan to introduce skill mobile morung in the village to impart skills on food processing and carpentry to enhance skill oriented activities besides depending on tapioca and sericulture products.

“Don’t take the training for name sake, if we are skilled and produce quality products, we can have a sustainable livelihood, because there is a demand for quality products,” he said.

Short speeches were also delivered by Longpa Putu, Longpa Baptist Church, Longpa Union Mokokchng and Longpa Union Dimapur.
