KOHIMA — K Station Rural Haat, a marketing shed for the farmers to sell their produce, was inaugurated by the advisor of Agriculture department, Mhathung Yanthan, on Wednesday in K Station village under Tseminyu district. The rural haat was an initiative of Windfall Welfare Society and funded by NABARD, while the land for setting up the marketing shed was donated by Joel Naga, president of Rising People’s Party (RPP).

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Yanthan has appreciated NABARD for providing the facility to the village besides many other initiatives for the farming community across the state. While informing that a proper waiting shed has been set up by considering the need of the people, he stated that the facility would remained incomplete unless the people effectively maintain and utilise it. As the shed is located at a convenient place, he stated that the facility would greatly help the farmers to sell their produce.

Stating that Nagaland is endowed with fertile soil and favorable climate, he urged the villagers to utilise the natural resources and monetise them. He also advised to keep up the hard working nature and unity of the Rengma people.

He also told the villagers that the marketing shed would become successful only when maintained properly. He also advised the villagers to expand and not be satisfied with the shed.

He further informed that they would keep a check on whether the facility is really utilised or not.

Johny G Rengma, senior BJP leader and director of NSTFDC, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, extended his appreciation to NABARD and stated that their presence in Nagaland is a memorable milestone.

Mentioning that the marketing shed was a great achievement, he expressed confidence that farmers would enjoy the facility. On behalf of the NABARD, he requested the people using the facility to maintain properly for sustainability.
