DIMAPUR — Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, Kropol Vitsu, on August 22 conducted an on-site inspection of the NH-2 alternate road stretching from Zero Point, Kezoma Urban Station to Kidima village.
The inspection was carried along with technical officials from the NPWD (R&B, South Division) and the EAC of Kezocha sub-division, an update stated.
During the visit, the advisor observed that the road which was originally constructed for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) is currently functioning as an alternate route for heavy vehicles travelling to Manipur.

“The load-carrying vehicles have caused significant damage where large portions of the road is now unsafe and impassable for smaller vehicles due to deep potholes and continuous surface erosion,” it stated.
Vitsu expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the road, emphasising that what should serve as a vital interstate lifeline has now turned into a daily ordeal for local residents.
He made an urgent appeal to the concerned authorities to immediately intervene to undertake necessary restoration works. “Timely action is critical not only for safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of indigenous communities but also for ensuring uninterrupted connectivity to the neighbouring state of Manipur,” he said.
The road’s current condition demands prioritisation and the advisor reiterated the importance of addressing the issue without further delay, the update stated.
