KOHIMA — Advisor for Civil Administrative Works Department (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Wednesday distributed equipment to honey farmers at Phusachodu village under Phek district.
The machines were provided by the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY), also known as the Van Dhan scheme, which aims to improve the socio-economic status of tribal communities by enhancing their livelihoods through the sustainable use of forest resources, stated a press release.
It focuses on value addition to Minor Forest Produce (MFP) and skill development to transform tribal gatherers into entrepreneurs.
Addressing the gathering, Khamo thanked the NBHM for providing such machines to the honey farmers in the village and expressed hope that it would go a long way in enhancing their entrepreneurial activities. He also sought continuous support and assistance from the NBHM to boost the rural economy.

Later, in his address at the Phusachodumi Farmers’ Meet, Khamo stressed the need to adopt a comprehensive farming policy to ensure sustainable growth, food security, and farmer prosperity.
The farmers’ meet discussed farming, finance, subsidies, and the marketing of coffee, kiwi, persimmon, cardamom, banana, and tomato, and also livestock farming.
Khuvoyi Vese, deputy team leader of the NBHM, also addressed the meeting.
