Dimapur, Nov. 24 (EMN): Mhathung Yanthan, the advisor for Horticulture and Border Affairs, is said to have pointed to lack of sincerity and commitment for many of the communitised sectors being ‘in jeopardy and the general public are made to suffer.’

In an attempt to take governance to the doorsteps of the people, Yanthan, toured during November 22-23 a number of villages in Wokha district.

He met with villagers of Yonchujo, Sunglup, Lakhuti, Asha, Pangti, Sungro, Okotso, and new and old Aree villages during the tour, updates stated.

The advisor’s public relations officials issued on Saturday a press release to the media.

‘The advisor pulled up erring government functionaries and asked the visiting heads of departments to initiate appropriate action against the employees who are irresponsible and negligent of their duties.’

According to the updates, Yanthan said, “Everyone has a specific role to play and perform one’s responsibility in the right earnest. It is because of the lack of commitment and sincerity that delivery mechanism in many of the communitised sectors is in jeopardy and the general public are made to suffer.”

Accompanied by district and state officers representing various departments, the advisor reviewed government programmes, schemes and functioning of the village institutions, the press release stated.

Some of the issues were resolved there while matters that were not resolved were ‘taken note of for redress at higher levels,’ the updates stated.
