Kohima, Dec. 27 (EMN): Advisor of Elections and Technical Education, Medo Yhokha has advocated fostering unity, peace and harmony as a way of life for all round development in the society.
Yhokha stated this during the platinum jubilee celebration of Khami Makhu Unity in Kigwema village council hall on Monday. While reflecting on the situations that prevailed prior to when people and communities were yet to forge peace, he opined that communities, villages or people at large maintained hostile relationships for which societies were at loss and lacked prosperity.
Stating that the world was in darkness a century or 75 years past or beyond, Yhokha, however, pointed out that with the passage of time people realised the need for peace.
The advisor, however, lamented that care and compassion were often found missing, which otherwise was upheld by elders and people in the past, despite the progress in technology and critical thinking in modern times.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Neisakho Kere, while Rev. Viketou Kiso offered a prayer. The programme saw cultural presentations and speeches from elders and community leaders.
