DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 11: A workshop-cum-seminar on addiction to social media, internet and online games was organised by Way2kingdom Media ministry (W2K) for the students of Class IX and X of SM High School, in SM Colony.
Resource person of the seminar was Dilip Kujur, Director of W2K, where he emphasised on the addiction to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and online games and its impact on their academics.
“You may achieve high scores in games but cannot achieve even average percentage in exams as in games,” Dilip Kujur pointed out. He encouraged the students to spend time on studying in place of playing games or on online chats.
He also screened some videos to the students about how online gaming and online chatting destroys life at a very young age. Besides, he also cautioned while chatting on online especially for girls where a fake account user may try to get them into their use for profit.
He cited many reasons for addition to social media and said students are addicted because they want to skip study, to kill time, and in a competition to get more likes and comments. He encouraged girls not to updates too many of their pictures and details about them on social media only for the sake of likes and comments.
While offering readiness to assist those who are addicted to social media, Dilip Kujur remarked that, ‘today drugs and alcohol are not only destroying our society, but it is the wrong use of social media.’
