ADC Pfutsero directs village authorities to form VDMA

Dimapur, May 25 (EMN): Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Pfutsero Japheth Woch has directed all the village authorities under Pfutseros-division to activate the Village Disaster Management Authority (VDMA) immediately.

According to a DIPR update, the villages which have not constituted VDMA have been directed to do so and submit details to ADC Pfutsero office at the earliest for approval by the authority. It said that failure to constitute the VDMA would render the defaulting villages ineligible for any schemes, relief or assistance under NSDMA.

It said that the roles and responsibilities of the committee would be to assist the government agencies, handling and management of dead bodies, monitoring of Covid-19 related cases and coordinating with the block level task force, sealing/cordoning of the house in the event of detection of Covid-19 cases on the order of the authority and unsealing of the house in the event of recovery on the order of the authority, enforcement of government SOPs and guidelines on Covid-19 in the village, disseminating of necessary information in the village and any other duties/responsibilities assigned by the block level task force.

 In a separate notification, the ADC has informed all village councils and ward authorities under Pfutsero sub-division that imposition of any additional restrictions are not allowed such as setting up of gates, restricting traffic movement along the highways, restricting movement of dead bodies and not allowing dead bodies to be brought to villages, restricting movement of frontline workers to perform bona-fide government duties, restricting agricultural activities etc. Within respective villages and wards except those orders or guidelines issued by the state government/ district task force or block task force from time to time.

Further, the village or ward authorities have been asked to provide necessary help or assistance to the deceased family members in case of deaths due to Covid-19 in performing the last rites and burial.
