Kohima, Sep. 12 (EMN): Angami Catholic Youth Association of St. Francis de Sales (ACYA SFS) parish in Kohima town organised a one-day skill development programme for its members at the parish premises on Saturday.
Basket making for girls and basic skills in fixing electrical wiring as well as masonry work for boys were taught during the day.
Members from Zynorique Initiative Society imparted necessary instructions about basic skills on mansory works as well as fixing electric wiring to the male participants, while Rone Veswü and her daughter Vekulu Veswü, a B.Com first semester student, taught the girls on basket weaving.
It was learnt that the duo had learnt the art of basket weaving all by themselves during the pandemic induced lockdown.
While taking part in the activities, the participants also repaired some cracks on the concrete floor in the premises of the church while they also fixed some precarious electrical fittings.
It was informed that the skill development programme was conducted to impart basic training on those life skills that people require most of the time at home.
Marina Kulnu, ACYA SFS general secretary, informed that a total of 40 youth members participated in the training programme.
