DIMAPUR — A four-day golden jubilee celebrations of the Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) coinciding with its 33rd triennial convention began on Friday at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) ground in Sechü-Zubza.

State Information Commissioner and former president of Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN), Nosazol Charles, attended the inaugural programme as the session guest. In his address, Charles advised the youth to be rooted in Christ and to do away with evil.

Stating that elders of the church have confidence and expectations on the youth, he urged them to live an honest and righteous life. He also encouraged the youth to embrace responsibility and live a life that reflects the values of the teachings of the Catholic Church, stated an update from ACYA media and publicity cell.

It stated that former executive member of ACYA and vicar general of Kohima diocese, Rev.  Fr. Neisalhou Carolus Kuotsu, was the speaker of the second session.

Speaking on the topic “March on courageously,” Fr. Carolus made Biblical references stating that God is omnipresent and added that with God all things are possible. He, however, questioned if the faithful are always with God.

He stressed on the importance of loving one’s church, which is a place of worship, and adherence to the church’s teachings. He further encouraged the youth to be courageous and embrace the teachings of the church that God has built.

Kenei Clement was the chairperson, while Akhrielie Bernick, assistant catechist of St. Luke Church in Mima, offered the opening prayer, and Neikeselie Albert Punyü read the scripture. Northern ACYA choir presented a song during the session.

Earlier, the inaugural session was chaired by Keleseho Stephen Tsükrü, which began with a prayer said by catechist of St. Maria Goretti Church Sechü-Zubza, Medolepra Lucas. The convention hall was dedicated by ACYA spiritual director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Pezalhoukho George Rino.
