DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 16
The Action Committee on Ralan Issue (ACRI) has reminded the State government to expedite and act promptly pertaining to the Ralan issue on or before the paddy harvesting season starts i.e. by November 2014 to prevent any future discord.
Apprising the Chief Minister on the situation there, the ACRI said its move has been necessitated because of the fact that the ‘illegal migrants’ (tenants) have resettled in the paddy fields belonging to the indigenous Lotha Naga landowners under the patronage and protection of Assam armed police personnel and ‘neutral forces’.
It also reminded the State government that it has submitted a memorandum vide No. ACRI-CROSS-1 on September 30, 2014 followed by on the spot assessment report after the action committee visited the area along with SDO (C) Ralan on October 3, 2014. “However, it is with regret to mention that no action is forthcoming except for the deployment of one IRB company,” ACRI rued.
Therefore, the action committee once again strongly insisted that the government take all necessary steps to help the displaced farmers/public for resettlement at their respective villages at the earliest failing which the situation may explode into unmanageable proportion causing major problems as experienced in the past.
