Achumbemo Kikon stresses serving people at Bhandari SDPDB meeting
DIMAPUR — The Bhandari Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) held its monthly meeting on January 8 at the ADC conference hall in Bhandari, chaired by MLA and Chairman of Bhandari SDPDB, Achumbemo Kikon.
During the meeting, Kikon emphasised his intention to serve the people, with a particular emphasis on education, health, and the road sector. He said that special attention would be paid to the identified aspirational area, which consists of 17 villages with high economic potential and manpower resources, according to a DIPR report.
He also urged the officers and departments to collaborate with the village councils for effective coordination in order to bring growth and development initiatives to the villages of the area.
The house discussed the recognition of Mitchü Yan village under EAC Champang. The secretary of the core committee for Mitchü Yan Village formation informed the house that recognition of the said village has been a long-felt need since it was established in 1974 and that all required credentials have been submitted to the Home department.
It resolved that, while it supported the village’s recognition process, acquiring and obtaining NOC and clearance should be completed in order to pursue the matter for further necessary action. The house also agreed to designate Yanmhon Village as a ‘SDPDB Aspirational Area’ for the current fiscal year.
The house also discussed the need for a helipad in Bhandari and resolved to refer the matter to the Transport department and Civil Aviation for prompt action.
When discussing the government’s financial schemes and policies for educated unemployed youth, the house stressed the importance of creating awareness to motivate and encourage the educated and unemployed youth of Bhandari to come forward and take advantage of the opportunities.
The MLA urged the bank managers in Wokha to ensure that the beneficiaries are chosen in accordance with government guidelines and through a proper system. Also, the beneficiaries should be assigned to Bhandari based on the size and population of the sub-division.
The house also emphasised the importance of restoring the now-defunct SBI branch at Champang for the benefit of the people in the area. Regarding power connection within the foothill areas to Longayim and Mekirang villages, the house advised that the villages would have to carry out basic and necessary steps before the concerned department put the work into execution.
During the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhandari, Longdiba L Sangtam and other officers newly posted to the sub-division were welcomed to the Bhandari SDPDB.
