MLA Achumbemo Kikon chaired the SDPDB meeting in Bhandari, reviewing agendas and proposing new police outposts to strengthen security along the Disputed Area Belt.

DIMAPUR — The Sub-District Planning and Development Board (SDPDB), Bhandari, was held at the conference hall of the Summer House-cum-guest house, Bhandari, on August 13.
MLA and Chairman of the SDPDB Bhandari and Chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Climate Change Achumbemo Kikon, who chaired the meeting, reviewed the agendas of the previous meeting and welcomed the new officers, stated a DIPR report.
He also lauded the district administration, Bhandari, border magistrates of Uriamghat and Ralan, and the border magistrate of Merapani for their proactive role in the successful and peaceful joint conduct of eviction within the Disputed Area Belt of Nagaland and Assam.

In its deliberation, the board stated that the installation of police outposts and the construction of permanent barracks at the state borders to house companies in strategic areas would help secure and protect the state borders.
To this effect, the house proposed the installation of a police outpost at Tchujanphen and Lio-Longchum villages and the activation of the approved police outpost at Ruchan village.
The border magistrate of Uriamghat and the border magistrate of Merapani, Nagaland, briefed the house on the recently conducted eviction drive jointly carried out with their Assam counterparts.
