Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has encouraged universities to embolden students to contribute towards uplifting the weaker sections of the society. The governor expressed his concern for the “poorer section of the people in the state” while addressing students of St. Joseph University and ICFAI University, Dimapur at separate events on July 8, according to a press release made available to the media by DPRO Dimapur.
The governor stated that universities were the “pillars of the nation to make India economically strong”, the statement said.

He said that the “fruits of independence have not reached equitably to all the section of the people”, and that universities had the responsibility of bringing out “employable youth in accordance to the need of the society”, the statement said.

The governor counselled against “self-centred education” but rather “work towards strengthening their own tribe, village and nation,” it said.

Acharya was attending a felicitation programme organised by St. Joseph University and ICFAI University at their respective campuses in honour of the completion of his tenure as the governor of Nagaland, the statement informed.

The vice chancellor of both the universities expressed their gratitude for his selfless service towards “nurturing younger generation” and congratulated him on his successful tenure, it stated.
