Accept people’s verdict, says Autonomous State Demand Committee
Our Correspondent
Diphu, May 3 (EMN): The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) has expressed its gratitude to all the people who had voted for the party and further look forward for their helping hand in the coming days. This was stated by Deniel Teron, president in-charge ASDC during a press conference held at its office, Diphu here on Monday.
Teron also said, “we have accepted the verdict given by the people with utmost respect, But , in this election it is important to mention that money and administration power of the ruling party play an important role in moulding the minds of the people whom to vote and whom not to vote. But the negative result of this assembly election is not going to deter the spirit of the Autonomous State movement led by ASDC and its fraternal organisations and the movement will be continued till the aspirations of the people are fulfilled come what may.”
Teron also said it was the refusal of the Congress and the ‘arrogant attitude’ of some more anti-BJP elements which propelled BJP to score victory in Karbi Anglong.
“We have stated in our earlier press conference that if there is no electoral understanding among anti BJP elements it would be difficult to defeat them. We have also stated that ASDC may not win without electoral understanding with other parties and that Congress will score zero and this is exactly what has happened. In the last council election also we had said the same thing to congress,” said Teron.
Moreover, Teron also lamented on the All Party Hill Leaders conference (APHLC), stating that the vote got by APHLC was not a ‘permanent vote’ and their recent trend in the election could be described as a ‘fluke success’.
“It is a new party in Karbi Anglong in the present context without any principle and ideology. It does not have specific programmes. Its demands are not democratic and are not in the line with international law. It is also a fact that APHLC had betrayed the Autonomous State issue along with Congress-I to the people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao 1969 during the creation of Meghalaya.”
While media persons asked about the unification among the regional parties in the coming days, Teron said ‘we are always welcome for unification among the regional parties in order to uproot BJP from Karbi Anglong’.
The press conference was attended by former MLA Hemsing Tisso, vice president Sonasing Terang, finance secretary Sanjay Killing and central executive committee member Mondol Taro.
