IN fast paced developments on the public movement against the bane of ‘illegal taxation’, led by the Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation, the NSCN (IM) one of the may groups named as tax collectors have reached out for a dialogue on the menace. The NSCN(IM) collective leadership have extended an invite to the ACAUT to discuss the issue. This has compelled ACAUT to postpone its public meeting announced for 6th August, 11am at Hotel Crown, Nagarjan junction, Dimapur.
The invitation on the eve of a mass base civil society meeting has thrown up many speculations in the minds of the public, especially in the backdrop of the war of words between the two organizations. The fact finding team of ACAUT had recently tabled a damning report of iillegal activities indulged in by both underground and over ground groups.
The report drew flak from both quarters with the ACAUT having to defend its intents and purposes.
Following the development a press release on Monday by ACAUT states that the postponement of the public meeting which was going to discuss the furtherance of the steps against “illegal unabated taxation” by over ground and underground groups became necessary to respond to an invitation extended by NSCN-IM.
The collective leaders have expressed a desire to discuss the issue and to address the grievances put fort by the ACAUT with regard to “illegal taxation” “syndicate” and dealership” concerns put forth by ACAUT.
The Committee expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the general public and seek apologies to all the tribal Hoho’s, civil societies mass base organizations, students and youth.
They have also stated that the public will be informed of the outcome of the meeting with the collective leadership.
