ACAUT Nagaland has reasserted its stand that answer keys for the upcoming Combined Technical Examination be published by Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC). Citing NPSC Secretary’s statement on the possibility of corruption if answer keys are published before the interview, the ACAUT reminded that under normal circumstances, the NPSC tallies the marks of the written exam, whether NCS/NPS or CTE, and selects students for interview.
“Surely the Secretary, NPSC, cannot be saying that under the present system, tallied marks cannot be leaked to the board members prior to interview? If this is the assertion of the Secretary, it is blatantly false since the scandalous history of NPSC is this irregularity itself and it is exactly for this reason that engineering students are demanding that answer keys be published. Is the NPSC Secretary saying that the board members can only be corrupted only with the publication of answer keys and that otherwise the whole examination process is free from corrupting influences?” querried Media Cell, ACAUT in a statement.
The ACAUT proposed that the NPSC publish answer keys for the Combined Technical Examination only after the interview process is over but before the final merit list is published.
“This sequence is better, almost transparent, for the simple reason that publication of answer keys for the 400 marks MCQ even after the interview discourages and possibly eliminates the intent of sinister play, either by the board members, the NPSC establishment or even the lobbying candidates in the intervening period between written exam and interview.”
ACAUT said, after the publication of answer keys, a sufficient time of 1 week be given to the students to check for any anomalies, such as publication of wrong answers, or to register complains, if any.
The final merit list, tallied from written and interview performances can be published after 1 week period is over, it added.
