DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 9

Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland strongly condemns the ‘totally unjustified and monopolistic policy’ of the Urban Development Department (UDD) dictating and directing all the three municipal councils, that is DMC, KMC and MMC and 16 (sixteen) town councils all over the state to instruct all the shops and businesses under their jurisdiction to buy fire extinguishers from one particular firm only.
“On what basis was this policy framed by the Urban Development Department so as to give this firm i.e., Royal International, Millennium Market, stall no TF 14 (third floor), Dimapur unfettered rights to monopolize the market?” ACAUT questioned.
The ACAUT Nagaland in a press release said it can only conclude that some important people in the UDD was/were paid kickbacks by the Royal international company to frame this illegal and monopolistic policy.
According to ACAUT, it is entirely up to the business owners and business establishment to procure fire extinguishers of any company from anywhere that meets safety and quality standards and no authority or entity can force the business community to buy such products from any firm, period. This policy is a pristine example of syndicate and illegal dealership system which ACAUT has been fighting against since its formation, the press note added.
ACAUT alleged that the DMC is requested to immediately cancel the trade license of Royal International, Millennium Market, stall no TF 14 (third floor), Dimapur. “If the issue persists, ACAUT may have to pursue a path which may put many in discomfort,” it warned.
