DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 26

Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) today launched its membership drive at Tetso College, Dimapur. The membership drive is aimed at garnering more support from all section of the Naga society, and it will continue even in other districts, one of the ACAUT members informed.
During an interactive session with the students of Tetso college, the ACAUT members spoke on the reasons for the formation of ACAUT and its vision based on 31st October resolution.
The members also reiterated that it (ACAUT) is a people’s movement for justice, and its members are not agents working in favour or against any political parties or NPG’s and such accusations are not only ridiculous but malicious.
ACAUT also stressed on the need for Naga unity at this point in history. “It has taken almost 50 years for a people’s movement like the ACAUT to take form and such an opportunity to change for a better tomorrow should not be missed. Our demands are morally legitimate and rational, and it is the express will of every Naga,” another member stated.
It may be mentioned that the visit to the college was upon invitation by Tetso College authority, wherein the ACAUT members also utilized the opportunity to launch the membership drive.
Over 50 students registered for membership in the presence of 10 ACAUT members.
On the day, many students also extended their support to the ACAUT members in fighting against illegal taxation and for “One government, one tax”.
