Abu Metha appointed associate vice president of AFI

Dimapur, Aug. 8 (EMN): Advisor to the chief minister of Nagaland and president of the Nagaland Athletics Association, Abu Metha has been appointed as the associate vice president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

“I congratulate you on your nomination as Associate Vice President of Athletics Federation of India and look forward to your cooperation and guidance in the implementation of AFI policies for the development of Athletics in future,” president of AFI, Adille J Sumariwalla stated.

Metha’s tenure would be upto 2024.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also took to Twitter on Sunday to congratulate the advisor on his selection. 

“Congratulations, Shri #Abu Metha for being appointed as Associate Vice President of Athletic Federation of India. I wish you an outstanding tenure. Grateful to Athletics Federation of India & Shri #Adille for recognizing Nagaland & the NE in our endeavour to promote athletics & sports in the country,” it read.

Advisor of Information and Communication, Science and Technology and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon also tweeted, “Congratulations @abumetha! This is a remarkable milestone! I am sure this assignment will energise the athletes in the region! Way to go”.
