Dimapur, March 30 (EMN): In pursuance to the yearly action plan of the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB), various NGOs, churches and youth department of Aboi Town Baptist Church (ATBC) jointly observed the ‘Anti–social elements day’ on March 30 at Aboi town on the theme “Say no to drugs and yes to life”.
Speaking at the programme, ADC Aboi, Chumlamo Humtsoe, underscored the duty of parents to raise their children in the right direction stating that family constituted the basic unit of society and nucleus of civilisation. He encouraged the people to make proper use of their leisure time instead of wasting away in other unproductive ways.
He also expressed his gratitude to the organisers for organising such a programme for the benefit of the society.
Also speaking at the programme, medical officer of CHC Aboi, Dr. Hangsha asked the gathering to live a life without drugs stating that various diseases spread faster among drugs users.
The vice president of Konyak Union, Aboi unit, Phongnyei said that anti–social elements are a behavioural issue which is not acceptable in family or society.
KNSK president informed that it has nearly 30 years that the organisation has been organising anti-social elements days. She thanked the pioneers of KNSK Aboi for the efforts and initiative. Short speeches were also delivered by representatives from KBBB, ATSU, and AASU.
The programme was chaired by sector pastor ATBC, Manpong, while the keynote address was delivered by the pastor of ATBC, Rev. Yeangphong.
Following a formal programme, residents of Aboi town including students from nine wards undertook a public rally with the slogan ‘Say no to drugs and yes to life.’ The rally culminated at Aboi local ground.
