Dimapur, June 8 (EMN)
: The deputy commissioner (DC) of Mon, Thavaseelan K, has announced complete lockdown in Mon town and Aboi on Monday due to the arrival of returnees to the district. Tizit will go on a lockdown on June 9, updates stated.

The DC informed that on Monday, approximately 75 people returned to the district and they are in quarantine in Aboi and Mon town.

“Today, 75 people have come and tomorrow we are expecting 120 to arrive; those 120 will be under quarantine in Tizit centre,” said Thavaseelan.

The reason why the numbers could possibly change, he said, was because many returnees had given Dimapur as their address when contacted.

“Some returnees, when contacted, had given their address as ‘Dimapur’ but will be returning to Mon,” Thavaseelan said.

With 41 quarantine centres and a capacity of approximately 2,000, the DC informed that more than 4,000 returnees are expected in Mon.

“Since they are returning batch-wise, we can say it is comfortable to accommodate in the quarantine centres. Taking into consideration the dynamics, 2,000 can be accommodated at one go,” Thavaseelan said, adding that there is a vacant IRB camp that is also going to be set up with approximately 500 beds.

According to the latest update, five returnees from Mon have been tested positive for the Covid-19 and are currently admitted at the Covid-19 hospital in Dimapur. The department of Health and Family Welfare has also informed that in the distribution of cases by domicile districts, Mon’s cases stands at 23 as of June 7.

The Covid-19 war room dashboard has also stated that district hospital of Mon, a Covid hospital, has 32 beds available and six in the isolation ward. It is informed that 36 doctors and 158 nurses are on duty.
