Abiogenesis release new album after 12 years
Abiogenesis released their latest album ‘Tales in harmony’ on July 20.

After a gap of 12 years, Abiogenesis, the first Naga folk fusion band from Nagaland, released a new album titled ‘Tales in harmony’ on July 20 through Songdew Music Label based in Gurgaon.

The album is available for streaming and purchase on all international major digital platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, etc, an update stated.

The band released their last album ‘Legacy of the mountains’ in 2012.

The new album is in their signature Naga Howey music genre, which is a fusion of Naga folk tunes with various forms of modern rhythms and has seven tracks including six Naga folk fusions and one with Indian beats.

‘Chathe Breeze’ is a reggae song describing the soothing effect of Chathe river breeze; ‘Asen Lima’ (Our land) is song in Ao-Naga dialect which highlights the danger of Nagas becoming a minority in their own land; ‘Drizzle’ is a soothing bamhum instrumental piece, while ‘She’s a thief’ is a song from their Howey musical play ‘Putu and his tiger spirit.’

The album’s other songs are ‘Rajdhani Express’, ‘Spell peace’and ‘Merangti.’

The seven tracks are a mixture of both vocal and instrumental with the indigenous Naga wind bamboo musical instrument Bamhum as the leading instrument, which lends a raw exotic tone to their music.

Tikzik, the bamboo percussion with multiple sounds is also played in most of the tracks. Incorporation of Bamhum and Tikzik into their music brought about a huge change to how Abiogenesis sound today, which also makes them unique and different from other bands.
