ABAM celebrates 150 years of Christianity in Naga Hills

Venue of ABAM’s Sesquicentennial event to mark 150 years of Christianity in the Naga hills.

Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) is set to celebrate 150 years of Christianity in the Naga Hills at Impur, the mission’s headquarters, from today (Nov. 1) with thousands of delegates from different parts of Nagaland and abroad expected to participate.

The speaker for the inaugural session will be Rev. Watson Rajaratnam, Regional Director, Serving in Mission, East Asia.

Rev. Dr. L Kari Longchar, Former Executive Secretary, ABAM, will give an exhortation; while Biren Gowalla, Pastor, Central Baptist Church, Sivasagar, and Rev. Dr. W. Along Jamir will bring the greetings.

The inaugural session will also feature Baptist Church Mizoram Choir and the release of a jubilee souvenir by former secretary, ABTM, L Bendangla Jamir.

The 3-day Sesquicentennial (SQC) celebration, which will conclude on Nov. 3, will be marked by traditional and modern homecoming celebrations, including performances from Phom Baptist Christian Association, Ao Naga Choir Delhi, Nungshitula Pongener and Merenyangla Pongener, Lotha Baptist Churches Association, Akangmongba, Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu, ABAM Choir, United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimukkhong, Samaro, Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu, Nito Mount; ABAM Youth Ministry, Nocte Baptist Churches Association, Meyitemsu Pongen and Aoyimti Baptist Arogo.

The event will also be telecast live on ABAM YouTube channel. The programme will begin at 9 am every morning and at 5 pm in the evening.

The ABAM SQC Planning Committee, in an update, requested all the church members and friends to prayerfully attend and participate in the celebration of God’s love, physically as well as virtually.
