Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): The 53rd Kukami Trophy organised by the Aqahuto Area Sports Association (AASA) got underway at Shokhuvi village in Dimapur on Monday, November 25, with the theme ‘unity through sports.’
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural programme, the GB of Khehoi village Kuhoi Zhimomi, also the chairman of the Dimapur Sumi Council, urged the players to play in true sportsmanship and not in mere participation.
Emphasising more on promoting and producing quality player from the area, Zhimomi appealed to the village leaders of the Aqahuto areas to take the responsibility of ensuring good and effective ways for the youngsters to grow in the field.
Syaing that many youngsters are failing to make it because of their behaviour in the community, Zhimomi advised the youngsters to first become a good person in order to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
Altogether eight football teams and 12 volleyball teams (men and women) are participating in the five-day sporting programme which will culminate on November 30.
The games in the tournament include football (men) and volleyball (men and women).
