NEW DELHI, JANUARY 14

The Aam Aadmi Party today accused BJP of whipping up communal tension in the city to gain political mileage in the upcoming Assembly election and alleged that it was behind vandalising of a church in West Delhi’s Vikaspuri area.
AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal alleged various areas in the national capital witnessed communal tension after BJP came to power at the Centre as the party was “trying to grab power in the city by hook or by crook”.“There was no political violence in Delhi until now. It is a peace-loving city. After the 1984 (anti-Sikh riots) there was no conflict between any community. However, the situation has changed since BJP came to power,” he said, addressing a press conference.
He also alleged that BJP was behind vandalism at a church in West Delhi in the wee hours today.
“BJP is behind it. This is not the first time (a church has been attacked). Before the elections, BJP is trying to instigate communal violence in Delhi. It has done it in Trilokpuri, Nandnagri, Nangloi, Bawana,” Kejriwal said.
He said that before the Lok Sabha election, BJP sang the development tune, but after coming to power it was indulging in “reconversions”.
“A church was set ablaze in Seemapuri and…Two more churches have been attacked…We condemn this. This party (BJP) before the election said that it will do development.
“After the election…It indulges in religious reconversions, says it does not want girls to wear jeans…It says women should produce four kids. It should make its agenda clear,” the former Chief Minister said.
