A. Sopen Konyak memorial volleyball championship begins

Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): Defending champion Young Spikers defeated Young Players Club, Tuensang in the inaugural match of the second edition of A. Sopen Konyak Memorial Men’s Open Volleyball Championship Trophy organised by Deu-Yong Club Tobu village that got underway here at Tobu village local ground on April 24. Nationalist Democratic People's Party (NDPP) president 55 AC Tobu Nyakho attended the event as the guest of honour and assistant district coordinator SSA, Mon James Ngushu Konyak as the special guest, stated a press note from the organiser. Nyakho in his speech emphasised the importance of such trophy to build peace and understanding among the neighbouring villages and town. Special guest Konyak expressed his gratitude for organising the trophy in the name of his late father A. Sopen Konyak and hope that the trophy will bring people from different parts to the common platform. He also called upon all the individuals to render support towards the club and conveyed that the players participating from neighbouring villages and town will share their valuable advice in making the trophy more interesting. A total of 20 teams are participating in the ongoing trophy informed the organisers in a press note.
