DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 4

The Department of English, Sazolie College, Jotsoma organized a programme called “A Rendezvous with Littérateur Easterine Kire” on November 3 in the College Conference room. Dr. Kangzangding Thou, Principal, in his introductory note described Easterine Kire as a prolific and a versatile writer, who is an asset to the Nagas.
Kire is a Naga writer based in Norway and is a part of a publishing group called Barkweaver. Before meeting the students, Kire discussed her novel, A Terrible Matriarchy, with the teachers of English Department. A Terrible Matriarchy, considered as her magnum opus and listed as one of the top novels by different publishers, is based on the Naga society. The novel is taught in B.A. English Honours course under Nagaland University.
On meeting the students, Kire highlighted briefly on A Terrible Matriarchy and her other published works.
She urged the students to keep reading and writing and also encouraged the students to hold on to their dreams because dreams are important and that one has to live their own dreams, not somebody else’s.
The programme ended with a discussion moderated by Vasundhara, Assistant Professor (English), followed by book signing by Kire.
