Dimapur, July 30

THE high level leaders of three Naga political groups have agreed to further strengthen the present reconciliation process –A Journey of Common Hope. This was stated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) in a statement today. The FNR statement follows the meeting of top leaders and high level commission members of each group under the banner of FNR in Dimapur on July 27 and 29.
The statement said the leaders of the Naga political groups consented to strengthen the reconciliation process while recognizing the importance of Naga reconciliation and honouring the common cause of the Naga historical and political rights
The meeting of the top leaders of the three groups took place following the decision of the signatories of the “Naga Concordant” led by the conveners of the High Level Commission at a meeting with FNR on July 21 and 23 to prepare for and convene a meeting with the highest level leaders. Accordingly, Isak Chishi Swu, Th. Muivah, Gen. (Retd.) Khole Konyak, Kitovi Zhimomi, Brig. (Retd.) S. Singnya and Zhopra Vero along with each group’s high level commission members met on July 27 and 29 wherein they openly shared and discussed the issues.
The statement also said the FNR encouraged the leaders to demonstrate their commitment by moving forward together basing on lessons learned from the past. It also called for all the Naga political groups to maintain the status quo and refrain from any unwarranted activities in order to bring stability to Naga society, as the intended goal is to honour and achieve common aspirations.
Recognizing the necessity for all Nagas to unite in the shared purpose towards achieving our Naga historical and political rights, the Naga reconciliation process remains open and accommodating to other Naga political groups that are committed to the Naga reconciliation process, as well as agreeing to abide by and uphold its principles.
FNR feels that Naga society has reached an important juncture in our political history. We earnestly call upon the various organizations in all Naga areas to sincerely support the fullest positive realization through the Naga reconciliation process.
