A Clarification

I am hereby clarifying on the content of the article titled “Revisiting the Final Chapter” by Khekiyie K. Sema IAS (Retd.) which appeared in the Morung Express on 13th March, 2017.

Khekiye K. Sema in his article said “Mr. Phizo had every right to condemn this accord in the aftermath as a document signed under duress instead of ignoring it as a non issue. His judgment of ground reality was a monumental failure on his part for there can be no justifiable excuse.” Where Khekiye K. Sema an Indian Administrative Service (Retd) himself stated as if he is a preacher/an advisor and also he wants to be a servant of two nations. He knows the policy of how India tried to suppress and divide the Nagas because he was one of the most loyal servants of India. Likewise the Naga nationalist knows much better than Khekiye on the historical background of the Naga Nation as a nationalist had life experience to save the Nagas and Nagaland.

It is undeniable fact that Khekiye K. Sema had given his whole life to serve India, the aggressor. Then he was given retirement by GOI as his service was no more needed by India. Thereafter, Khekiye began to learn about the Naga Nation at the sunset of his life. He must know this very clearly and should not boastfully oppose against the historical truth of the Naga Nation. However, on the one way, it is good for the Nagas to know his concrete colour through his write-ups which were published in Nagaland Dailies.

A.Z. Phizo is the father of the Naga Nation not because of he is orator but because of his extraordinary work done and sacrificed for the Naga Nation. As for the Shillong Accord, we have been clarifying about it and the stand of A.Z. Phizo from time to time, but if Khekiye continued to oppose against our leader and Nation like Th. Muivah, Khekiye also will be one of the wicked persons among the Nagas. As far as Phizo and the Shillong Accord are concerned, the record shows the following facts:

1. Phizo’s letter to the Editor, The Times of London dated November 25th 1975, had clearly stated that he had nothing to do with the Shillong Accord.

2. In his letter to the NNC Vice President, T. Venuh had also clearly stated that he and the NNC had nothing to do with the Shillong Accord and that if the Government of India thinks it has achieved a settlement with the Nagas through the Accord, let India raise the issue first and he (Phizo) would handle the matter himself.

3. As for the Accord, why should Phizo denounce it when he does not recognize it as a valid settlement/document in the first place?

May the good Lord grant soon the year of the Lord and let every Naga witness that God has a purpose and plan for Nagas to be a nation. When Nagas enjoy this joyful day in reality, some Nagas who cuddle with Indians will have to pack their things and go to their guy country because the land of law may enforce to those who go against the Nation. The NNC does not want our people to become the refugee in other Nations and therefore we always tried to make our people to understand the truth.

Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

In the same way, with faith in God, the NNC will continue to serve and save the Naga Nation.

Acüyi Vadeo
Joint Secretary,
Naga National Council (NNC).
