Kohima, Aug. 5 (EMN): A book 'Where the Cobbled Path Leads' by Avinuo Kire and published by the Penguin Publication was released by vice principal, Kohima College Kohima, Keneilesa Neikha, on Friday.
Kire who currently teaches English at Kohima College Kohima, has authored several books including 'The power to forgive and other stories' and 'The last light of glory days and other stories.'
At the launching event, general manager of Penguin Random House, Peter Modoli observed that Avinuo Kire travels from “one reality to the other in a bold and thrilling debut” which offers insight into contemporary Naga society.
"Where the Cobbled Path Leads' is as much a portrait of our own worlds as it is a stunning work of fantasy fiction", he said.
Commissioning Editor, Penguin Random House, Rea Mukherjee, in her publisher's note wrote that the book is “one he can't seem to put into words.”
"The life she has breathed into her book, the characters she has formed, the story she has created, the themes she has discussed, and most importantly, the rich history and culture of Nagaland that is she has so beautifully weaved into her narrative is nothing short of masterful storytelling", he said.
He expressed optimism that the book reaches far and wide and receives the love, admiration and respect it deserves.
Literary critic Dr. Kevileno Sakhrie described the book as "a literary fable of remarkable depth and strange delights, a classic tale of leaving childhood and the connection between life, love and death, where transformation can come from even the deepest grief."
