MOKOKCHUNG — A book titled “On being feminine,” written by Lanuinla, was launched at Urban Café in Mokokchung on Thursday.

The book was released by Marsanen Imsong, president of Ao Senden, in the presence of well-wishers and literary enthusiasts, while the dedicatory prayer was said by T Arenla Ao.

Speaking at the book launch programme, Imsong stated that the art of writing is one of the precious gifts of God. He added that writing a book, though it might be challenging, has a profound impact in transforming the society and the world.

“May this book enlighten the people to understand the strength and resilience of women and their status quo in our society. Let this book be a walking stick for the leaders to guide the way,” he implored adding, “It is better to buy a new book and wear your old coat.”

The author, Lanuinla, informed that ‘On being feminine” was a journey within her stemming from the experiences growing up in a tribal society surrounded by women who embodied grace, strength, and resilience.

Stating stated that the concept of femininity is often misunderstood and misrepresented, she said the book seeks to challenge the societal norms and expectations that often restrict women to a narrow definition of femininity.

She called upon the men in particular to explore the value of femininity to lead a mutual harmonious relationship and understanding of the human experiences.

The book is a collection of poems divided into three sections-Sprouting, Growing and Flowering, where the authors have used creative language and imagery to distinguish the themes.

The author is currently serving as lecturer in the Department of Old Testament at Everest Theological Institute, Kathmandu, and holds Master degree in Economics and Master of Theology in Old Testament.
