Kohima, Sep. 13 (EMN): A Ph.D dissertation in a book form titled “From Primal Religion to Christianity in Nagaland: The problem of syncretism,” written by Dr. Ruokuozelie Pienyü, HoD of Missiology and senior lecturer at Faith Theological Seminary (FTS) in Jotsoma was launched on September 13 in the Chapel Hall of FTS

A press release from FTS informed that the 947 page book was published by Crown of Life Ministries, Kohima, and released by the FTS principal, Rev. Dr. Visielie Angami.

Speaking at the book release event, FTS principal, Rev. Dr. Angami said, “This is a book about how a missiologist views the Nagas. The present Nagas, especially the young people, and the world have exceptionally little knowledge about the fusion of primal religion and Christianity. In combining loyalty to this context, this work addresses a great contemporary need. A comprehensive rundown of all that a Naga Christian needs to know-this one offers just that! It is high time that the Nagas are reminded and conscious more about the problem of syncretism in their land.”

While appreciating the book, he exuded confidence that the book would benefit the attentive and serious readers for the glory of God. He has congratulated the author and recommended for others to read the book.

Prof. Dr. Dasan Jeyaraj, principal of Church on the Rock Theological Seminary, Visakhapatnam, and the former principal of Centre for Contemporary Christianity, Bangalore, while lauding the writer, remarked that Pienyü has researched the vital phenomenon of primal religions encountering and co-existing with the Christian faith in Naga society.

He has further recommended the missionaries and theologians in Nagaland to read the book.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of Crown of Life Ministries and House of Prayer Ministries, Vilakhonuo Pienyü, has highlighted its activities on its ministry with emphasis on preaching and teaching.

The release further stated that Dr. Ruokuozelie Pienyü had also written books namely “Naga mission towards 21st century” and “Biblical meaning of dreams and visions.”

It added that he has been conducting lecture on theology since 2006.
