Mokokchung, Oct. 30 (EMN): A book title “Lanur Longzuk” (A biography of Rev. RJ Amen Longchar) written by Tiala Imchen was formally released and dedicated by Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, executive secretary of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), at Upper Kumlong Ward in Mokokchung town on October 30.

According to the author, the reverend spent most of his life with the youth and was instrumental in transforming and influencing many young people. It was during his tenure as secretary of ABAM Christian Youth Endeavour (CYE), the Aoli CYE rose to its peak by conducting seminars and training for the youth pastors, retreats, collegiate festivals, skill workshops for school drop-outs etc.

It was informed that Rev. RJ Amen Longchar also introduced the film ministry, which was later christened as Gospel Media Centre and reached many people with the word of God. During those days, a magazine called ‘Lanur Teimla’ was also published by setting up Aoli CYE printing press.

He was also the forerunner in the fight to declare Mokokchung district and Nagaland as dry state. He was also instrumental in designing the youth ministry as cadet, crossroad and crusader club, which is still practiced in many churches.

Despite financial constraints, he was involved in construction of Rev. Longri Memorial Youth Hostel to reach out to the youth, which today serves as the Jubilee Memorial College building. He also served in NBCC, CBCNEI and outreach mission after his service from ABAM

“Throughout his life he gave all to ABAM youth ministry and this book is a life story for youth and is written to inspire the youth to do God’s works selflessly,” the author said.

Rev. RJ Amen Longchar said that 30 years of service with ABAM and other organisations was a smooth sailing because there was God’s presence and people were very supportive.

“It was all teamwork and his Omni presence that we have overcome challenges and difficulties to accomplish our every endeavor,” he said.

Arenla Imchen, former ABAM associate youth secretary, while recounting her association with Rev. RJ Amen Longchar, remarked that he was a selfless and visionary leader who shaped and transformed many youth including his colleagues.

The book will be available at Clark Literature House, MTBA Basement, Mokokchung, and Tiryimyim office at Super Market in Dimapur.
