Trainings for poll officials scheduled, randomisation conducted

DIMAPUR — In preparation for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Dimapur, has issued directives for the second phase training of polling officers from Dimapur, Nuiland, and Chümoukedima.

The training sessions aim to familiarise the first polling officers, second polling officers, third polling officers, and grade IV staff with the necessary procedures and protocols for the electoral process, according to an update.

Presiding officers and first polling officers will undergo training on April 4 at Dimapur Government College, beginning at 10 am. Second and third polling officers are scheduled for training on April 5 at Dimapur Government College, starting at 10 am.

“The training sessions are crucial in ensuring that polling officials are well-prepared and equipped to carry out their duties effectively during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” it read.

Also, the second phase of training for polling officials, including presiding officers, first polling officers, second polling officers, third polling officers and multi-task staff (MTS) in Longleng district, has been scheduled for April 8 and 9.

The training for polling personnel stationed in and around Longleng town would be conducted at Bautung GHSS, Longleng, on April 8 at 9:30 am, while training for polling personnel stationed in and around Tamlu sub-division would be conducted at ADC’s office in Tamlu on April 9 at 10 am.

Meanwhile, polling personnel who have yet to apply for EDC have been informed to bring a photocopy of their EPIC cards or government service ID cards and two recent passport size photographs for the purpose of obtaining the election duty certificates (EDCs) and election ID cards.

Further, all the concerned heads of departments and nodal officers have been directed to inform their respective officials or staff requisitioned for election duty regarding the training schedule.

It stated that strict action would be initiated against absentees and defaulters as per Section 134 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Second randomisation of polling personnel

Meanwhile, the second randomisation of polling personnel for Kohima district was conducted in the presence of P Ramesh, general observer (observer code G-18147) and Kumar Ramnikant, deputy commissioner and district election officer, Kohima, at DC office Kohima on Tuesday.

“This step ensures the impartiality and integrity of the electoral process as it progresses towards polling day,” stated a DIPR report.
