DIMAPUR — A book titled “History, culture and traditions of Nagas: A student’s perspective” was launched on October 25 at Modern College, Piphema. The book is a collection of selected papers from the students’ seminar 2022 organised by the History department of the college.
An update from the college stated that the book was edited by the college principal, Dr. Vitsou Yano, and officially launched by Chanini Lokho, executive director of Modern College.
It stated that the book delved into the traditional knowledge system, cultural attires, which included costumes and ornaments, Naga material culture and identity, art of pottery: weaving and basketry, religion, festivals, traditional burial system, cultural identity and traditional games and sports.
During the book launch programme, Dr. Yano, exhorted the gathering on the intention and summary of the book. She further encouraged the students to also strive to work on research papers and broaden their minds.
Holds Autumn Fiesta
Modern College, in collaboration with Youth Resources and Sports, organised its 2nd edition of Autumn Fiesta on Saturday at the college indoor stadium.
The event was sponsored by Forest Kitchen, KCS Kitchen, NITI and Elite Fabrics.
The college principal, Dr. Vitsou Yano, delivered the welcome address, while Asekho Talie, district sports officer and nodal officer, also exhorted the students.
The activities of Autumn Fest included Cosplay campus, stall, Cosplay competition, archery exhibition, talent hunt and declaration of e-sports results.
In the Cosplay competition, Pisala V Sangtam and Grace Gonmei secured the first and second positions respectively, while Angam from GHSS Medziphema was declared winner of the talent hunt competition. In the e-sports, Team MAAF and Team The Last Moment secured first and the second positions respectively.
