Governor plants sapling at Raj Bhavan, felicitates staff of NU
DIMAPUR — As part of Van Mahotsav, an annual one-week tree-planting festival, the Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, planted a sapling at Raj Bhavan in Kohima in honour of his mother and urged everyone to join the #Plant4Mother campaign.
According to an update, the #Plant4Mother (Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam) campaign was launched on World Environment Day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He had urged citizens and people worldwide to join the tree plantation initiative with their mothers to celebrate both motherhood and the environment, it said.
Felicitates staff of Nagaland University
Meanwhile, on June 30, Ganesan felicitated Sukho Movi, a non-teaching staff member of Nagaland University (NU), with a certificate of appreciation for his significant contribution to environmental protection through his ‘One man clean-safe campaign’.
The certificate was awarded during the screening of the Mann Ki Baat programme at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.
According to a press release, Movi started his tenure at Nagaland University as an LDC in 1997 and was promoted to UDC in 2013.
He received notable recognition for his service, including the Governor’s Gold Medal for Distinguished Service in 2017, and in 2018, he was appointed as the special ambassador for Swachh Bharat Phek District by the governor.
Also, he was named the best non-teaching staff member of Nagaland University for 2023.
